Dr. Monica Mburu
She is an expert in food safety management systems, with over 14 years experience in training, implementation and auditing of food safety management systems including; FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, ISO 22002-1, BRC and Global GAP in Africa.
She has a working knowledge in HACCP and food safety having worked as a Quality Assurance Manager for eight years in food processing companies in Kenya. She has been involved in establishing food safety management systems for various companies and has a wealth of experience in research in the field of food chemistry, microbiology and safety.
She is also involved in training and implementation of fair trade and organic standards. Monica is a trainer expert with EU based PIP and EDES programs, being involved in train the trainer projects where she has notably tackled the issue of Food safety, Ethical production, and Sustainable production.
Her other areas of expertise are in implementation and auditing of the major European market standards (Global GAP, Organic and Tesco Nature’s Choice). Monica has a PhD in Food Science and Technology from Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DKUT), a Masters degree in Food Science and Post harvest Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
She is currently a Lecturer at DKUT, specialized in food microbiology, chemistry and safety
She hold a Master’s degree in food Safety and Quality Management from the University of Greenwich (UK) and Bachelor’s degree in Food Processing Technology from Kyambogo University, Uganda.
She has both levels 2 and 3 awards of the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) in Food Safety and Hygiene and in HACCP for Food Manufacturing respectively. Elizabeth has experience in implementation and maintenance of Food Quality Management Systems (GMP, HACCP, IS0 9001, ISO 22 000, HACCP) and has conducted trainings for several food industries in Food Safety, internal audits, Food hygiene, food labelling and food allergens.
She has helped a number of food industries to work towards certification through guiding them and encouraging them to comply with the set food regulations. She has also raised awareness on Food Safety through presentations at National Workshops where she highlights the importance of ensuring that food is safe.
To broaden her knowledge on the subject, she has participated in Food Safety trainings at both local and international levels which knowledge she uses in her day to day work to promote food Safety.
She is an experienced trainer and a Lead auditor in Food Safety and Quality Management Systems including; FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, HACCP, ISO/TS 22002-1, ISO 9001, BRC and other related areas such as training in internal auditing, Food hygiene, Food defense and Food allergens.
She has steered several companies in implementing Food Safety Management Systems during her employment as a Food Safety Team Leader, Quality and Production managers and or as a food safety / quality systems consultant.
Other areas of expertise include conducting Gap Analysis before implementation of a system to determine the size and scope of a food safety certification project. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University of science and technology. She is a trained lead auditor in FSSC 22000 for food safety management systems.
She has a dependable character, thoroughness, persistence at delivery of tasks and a high level personal responsibility.
He is an Executive and a Member of Food Science and Technology of Kenya (FoSTEP-K) and also a Full Member with National Quality Institute-Kenya (NQI).
He is a certified ISO 9001 lead auditor. He has experience in designing, Planning, implementation and maintenance of IS0 9001, ISO 22 000, HACCP, OHSHAS, EMS management systems.
Other areas of expertise include conducting Gap Analysis before implementation of a system to determine the size and scope of System certification project.
Morris has worked as food systems coordinator, SHEQ Manager as well as a consultant in setting up management systems in various industries. He also sits in various Technical Committees at the Kenya Bureau of Standards.
Morris holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food science and Technology, Certificate in Project Management and Occupational Safety and Health.
She is diversely knowledgeable in HACCP, BRC, ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000.
She has experience in conducting of trainings and internal audits in the food industry. Pauline has previously worked as a deputy food safety team leader and has extensive awareness on food safety management systems implementation.
Her key areas of expertise include food quality assurance and food safety for improved food security and nutrition. Her other areas of expertise include food chemistry, food microbiology and new product development.
Pauline holds a Master’s degree in Food science and Technology from Dedan Kimathi University of Technology and a Bachelor’s degree from DeKUT too specializing in food quality assurance, sensory analysis and new product development.
